Airsoft is a recreational tactic and war game simulating actual military and law enforcement combat. The history of Airsoft goes back to the 1960’s in Japan where possession of actual firearms are prohibited. This then, pushed the Japanese to create replicas of authentic firearms powered by springs. News then spread throughout North America in the 1970’s from people who have frequented East Asia. Production of realistic replicas of firearms and bullets became more and more popular. This then encouraged Airsoft enthusiasts in America to produce shelled bullets which the Japanese incorporated in their false gun models. This addition was embraced warmly in Japan and was then known as “soft-air” guns. Since then, different weaponry are produced for short-range pistols and long-range sniper airsoft rifles.
Eventually spreading in North America, Canada and Europe, the weapons evolved into Automatic Electric Guns (AEG) by the 1990’s. Nowadays, airsoft is a hobby or pastime for those who are, or already have been in the military and law enforcement professions. It has also grown to increase the curiosity of those outside the military. Interested parties can learn the rules prior to the actual battle. This allows first-timers to learn the discipline incorporated in the game.
They are made to understand that Airsoft is a game of honor and requires honesty in admitting to being hit. This requires acting out to be dead or shouting out the word “hit” so the opponents know your status. However, it is not good sportsmanship to call out somebody even when you know they have been hit. Because of the heavy armor and protection, the bullet might not reach their skin, and they may not be aware of it. More bullets can be shot to make them realize that they are hit and out of the game. There are also marshals to keep the game fair and safe and call out for those who don’t.
If the enemy can shoot you at point-blank range, you can yell “surrender” instead, without the need to be hit. However, the enemy could also fire a bullet at a close-range if nobody would admit to surrendering. It is required to do this in the safest area of the body, which is usually at the torso. Exit the combat zone only after the game has moved to another terrain, or exit towards the safe zone with your gun above your head.
There are two ways to battle in the combat zone -- Close Quarter Battling (CQB) and Long-Range Combat. Although CQB allows an exciting and more immediate exchange of bullets because of the limit in area, the use of distance and cover in the game is not fully utilized. The weapons used mainly require power and speed than range.
Long Battle Combat, however requires sniper airsoft rifles that would allow you to hit your enemy even while on cover. Because of the distance in large combat zones, accuracy and clever camouflaging tactics is required of the sniper in the team and his/her weapon.

Spring-powered rifles are usually best for starters because they are cheap and are widely available. Although it requires cocking the gun before actual firing, it gives a better and more realistic feel as opposed to rifles of other power sources. It may not be as powerful as is, but can shoot at 400-700 feet per second (FPS) with additional upgrades. However, the speed is relative to the weight of the ammunition; the power and speed of the bullet launched depends on the rifle and manual handling of the sniper. Electric sniper rifles come in semi or fully automatic models to give the user the flexibility to choose the right mode of firing. Also called Automatic Electric Gun (AEG), electric sniper airsoft rifles provides more power for each shot, without the need for manual cocking. Preparation for usage includes charging of the batteries before use, which would usually take 4 hours initial charging, then 2-3 for further use. Upgrades for electric snipers include bigger battery packs for longer usage and extra magazines for long periods of battle. To improve the launching of the pellet, Air Seal Nozzles upgrades can be added to improve air and flow and provide a frictionless, yet tighter seal between the cylinder, barrel and head. Other upgrades include piston and cylinder, the effects of which depend on the material used.
Apart from the performance of the spring and motor, accessories also play a great role in improving the overall game. A better view of the opponent can be achieved with scopes and optics that are compatible with your weapon. A red dot scope creates an image with dots and a cross hair. Lasers in either red or green beams can travel short and far distances, the strongest of which can be visible even in daylight. A telescopic scope on the other hand, improves vision by enlarging the image of the target, improving the quality of precision with a good elevation. Night vision option is also available and ideal for longer hours of battle that would continue for days and nights.
Different mounting hardware is also used to increase better vision. Apart from the quality, also check on the comfort that it provides you, and the ease in adjusting the nuts and bolts. There are double-railed mounts available in the market that accepts varieties of tactical flashlights, scope and laser. For closer combat and urban law enforcement applications, hand guard rails can be used for maneuvering sniper airsoft rifles easily while maintaining a good foundation.
